The Typical
Website Lifecycle
You probably already know your website needs work.
And you've been putting it off.
Because you know what’s coming:
- meetings
- decisions
- design debates
And after launch...
someone still has to manage the website.
So the project gets delayed for years.
Even when websites are rebuilt, they often fail later because nobody owns them.
They slowly drift out of date.
Bonfire solves both problems.
We build the website.
And manage it for you after.
✓ Clear scope and pricing from the start
✓ Decisive guidance, not endless options
✓ A structured process that keeps moving
✓ Ongoing care so your site stays current

FAQs
What do you need from us to get started?
To get started, you'll fill out our structured intake form. This helps us understand your organization, your goals for the website, and any constraints we should know about.
From there we'll ask for a few key materials if you have them: logo, brand guidelines, existing content, examples of websites you like.
Once the project is approved, we'll have a kickoff call to align on direction and answer any open questions. From there we move into design, with review points along the way.
We gather the right information upfront so the project moves without turning into a long series of internal meetings on your side.
Do you offer ongoing website maintenance after launch?
Yes. Every website we build comes with the option for ongoing care.
Websites fall out of date because no one is responsible for them after launch. Not because anyone decided to neglect them, the responsibility just never landed anywhere specific.
Ongoing care means it lands with us: platform and security updates, content changes when you need them, monitoring so broken forms and links don't sit unnoticed, and someone to email when something needs attention.
Your website stays current, and it stays off your team's plate.
How long does a website redesign take?
Most website projects take 5–8 weeks from kickoff to launch.
The exact timeline depends on the size of the site and how much branding work is involved. Our process is built to keep the project moving so it doesn't stretch into months of back-and-forth.
We gather what we need upfront through a structured intake, then we manage it well throughout so it doesn't stall.
How much does a custom website cost?
Most website projects fall between $8,000 and $25,000.
What moves the number is fairly predictable: the size of the site, whether we're writing the copy, whether there's brand work involved, and how much custom functionality the site needs.
An established business with copy in hand and an existing brand sits at the lower end. A multi-location organization that needs brand work, service pages, team profiles, integrations, and copy written from scratch sits higher.
Once you fill out our intake form and we have a short discovery call, we'll provide a fixed price for your website.
Do you offer branding and logo design?
Yes. Branding can be part of a website project with us.
That includes visual branding (e.g. logo design, typography, color, and brand guidelines), as well as verbal branding (e.g. how the company describes itself and the language used across the site).
Some clients have a strong logo and need a full color palette created for their website. Others come to us for a full rebrand alongside the website. Neither is required for a website build.
If you're unsure which you need, we'll tell you honestly after seeing what you have.
Can you work with our internal marketing team?
Yes. Some of our clients have internal marketing teams, and we work alongside them.
Usually that means the marketing team provides brand and messaging direction, reviews drafts, and serves as our main point of contact. We handle the website itself: design, structure, build, launch, and ongoing care.
Your team stays close to the decisions that matter, and out of the day-to-day project management.
Are the websites you build ADA compliant?
We follow WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines when we design and build.
In practice that means semantic structure, readable typography, sufficient color contrast, proper labeling, and alt text on the images we place.
A few things worth knowing. The ADA doesn't specify technical standards for private-sector websites, and no organization certifies a site as ADA compliant. So no web design firm can promise that outcome.
Accessibility also isn't a fixed state. Content added after launch, third-party tools, and embedded media all affect it.
For organizations with specific compliance obligations, we'd recommend your own legal or accessibility review alongside the build.
Do you outsource or offshore any of the work?
No. Our team is U.S.-based, and anyone we bring in for specialized work is too.
We don't hand projects to an offshore production team, and we don't route your communication through account managers who aren't doing the work.
We're a small team on purpose. Fewer people between you and the work.
